Cell Line Description

Hepatocyte Cells

Components

1) ≥1X106 viable HSC-T6 Rat Hepatic Stellate Cells: (Catalog No. SCC069). Store in liquid nitrogen.

General description

Hepatocytes and hepatic stellate cells play important roles in retinoid uptake, storage, mobilization and metabolism. Hepatic stellate cells represent only 5-7% of the total cells present in the liver. Isolation of primary stellate cells is thus time-consuming and often accompanied by low yields and considerable lot-to-lot variations. HSC-T6 Rat Hepatic Stellate Cell Line is an immortalized line isolated from SV40 large T-antigen transformed primary stellate cells of male Sprague-Dawley retired breeder rats. HSC-T6 Rat Hepatic Stellate Cell line is a useful model for the study of hepatic retinoid storage and metabolism.

Quality

Each vial contains ≥ 1X106 viable cells.
Cells tested negative for infectious diseases by a Mouse/Rat Comprehensive CLEAR panel PCR panel by Charles River Animal Diagnostic Services.
Cells tested negative for mycoplasma contamination.

Storage and Stability

HSC-T6 Rat Hepatic Stellate Cells should be stored in liquid nitrogen. The cells can be cultured for at least 10 passages after initial thawing without significantly affecting the cell marker expression and functionality.
