Biochem/physiol Actions
The RPS6 (ribosomal protein S6) protein is involved in the 40S subunit assembling. RpS6 might be involved in the regulation of cellular metabolism, the size of cells, their proliferation and survival. RpS6 might stimulate or inhibit translation of certain mRNA. Upregulation of the gene is observed in pulmonary sclerosing hemangioma, lymphangioleiomyomatosis-associated angiomyolipomas, dysplasia, oral cavity and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
